![]() On Tuesday evening this week, we were lucky enough to be invited to the reopening ceremony of the Woolworths at Annerley Junction. The shop opened officially to the public on Wednesday and it's been buzzing ever since. It's been a long 18 months since the Food For Less closed it's doors for the last time on Ipswich Road after a long history in the area. It began as the Brisbane Cash and Carry supermarket and is mentioned with some anger in Hugh Lunn's memoir 'Over the Top with Jim' as being one of the reasons his family shop, Lunn's for Buns couldn't compete in the area. But now there are only positive thoughts about the new Woolies which is the most modern of it's kind in Australia. ![]() There is a great photo of the John Stweart General Store which stood on Annerley Road in the early 1900's displayed above the lifts in the new complex. It is a great link to our history and community and is a welcome addition to the design. As I said, it's been a long time coming but we're glad it's finally here~
